# A counter that knows the rest of the business

> Clixo builds point-of-sale that shares inventory, prices, and accounts with the rest of the operation — so a counter sale is not a second set of books.

- **Service:** POS systems
- **Canonical URL:** https://clixo.sh/services/pos-systems
- **Provider:** Clixo — Itasca, IL (hello@clixo.sh)
- **Highlights:**
  - Checkout on the same inventory as the office
  - Account sales, not only cash-and-carry
  - Prices the counter cannot silently invent
  - A register that is not a silo

A register that does not share a count with the warehouse is a second business. Staff sell what the back office thinks is already promised. Account customers get a retail price, or a handwritten exception. End of day is a reconciliation hobby.

Clixo builds POS as part of the operation, not as a gadget on the counter.

## The problem we take on

Retail POS assumes a catalog, a tax rate, and a card. Plenty of counters are not retail: trade customers, case quantities, account sales, a stock number that also has to survive an online or phone order placed ten minutes ago.

Forcing that through a café-style POS produces workarounds — a second sheet, a "just ring it as open food," a manager code for every real price. The software did not fail at taking a card. It failed at being the sale.

## What we actually build

A point-of-sale system for the counter you actually run.

- **Checkout** — scan or search, quantity, tax as the business defines it, tender or on-account.
- **The same inventory** the rest of the company uses, decremented when the sale happens.
- **Customer accounts and the prices those accounts are owed**, so the counter is not inventing a deal.
- **A receipt and a record** the office can find tomorrow.

If the deeper problem is the whole distribution loop — portal, warehouse, accounts — start with [wholesale distribution systems](https://clixo.sh/services/wholesale-distribution-systems). POS is the counter slice of that world, and sometimes it is the only slice you need first. We will not invent tickets-per-hour.

## Who this is for

Operators who sell at a counter *and* keep accounts — distributors with a will-call window, suppliers with a front room, anyone whose POS has to respect the same stock and price list as the office.

A poor fit: a single-location café that should just use a commodity POS, or a request to resell and support a hardware franchise.

We build this from Itasca. The Midwest trade counter is familiar ground; we will not stuff city names into the checkout flow.

## How we work

We stand at the counter before we draw screens. We write down the exceptions — the open ticket, the account that picks up, the item that is sold by the case at the window and by the unit on an invoice. The first slice is a working checkout on the real catalog. Payments, accounts, and hardware come once the total is trustworthy. Weekly notes; you own the system.

## Frequently asked

### Why not Square, Clover, or a restaurant POS?

Those products are excellent at card present and a simple catalog. They are a poor fit when the same SKU has account pricing, when a counter sale must decrement the warehouse count, or when the buyer is a trade customer on terms — not a walk-in ticket.

### Is this a wholesale portal with a cash drawer?

No. The portal is how a customer orders when they are not standing there. POS is the standing-there moment: scan, total, tender or on-account, receipt, stock. They should share a record. They are not the same screen.

### Do you handle payments?

We wire checkout to a payment provider the business can actually use. We do not claim to be a payment facilitator, and we will not promise a processor for a category we have not confirmed.
